All The Colors

I’ve really been wanting to update my personal color palette lately.  However, I don’t just want to go out and buy ALL THE COLORS, despite how much I want something other than grungy snow and mud around me~  So I’ve been messing around with the online color palette generators; just insert an image and they pull out the dominant colors for your palette.  I wandered through my inspiration pics, and picked a few with really appealing color schemes.

This image comes from the met’s costume collection, and the color palette is everything I’m wanting right now.  Subtle lilacs, watery blues, soft neutrals; it’s a perfect guide for updating my wardrobe.

Here’s a couple of alternates~

Maybe it’s because of the long, grim winter but I am really craving color right now.  My landscape right now is just grey, grey, and more grey.  Dreary.

So February’s inspiration is all about tones, hues, and highlights!  Enjoy~

January Inspiration

The snow days of winter have certainly been hitting us hard in Chicagoland!  In between intense winter storms, freezing rain, and snow-packed streets, I haven’t had much time to think about style, fashion or much else besides surviving the drive to work~

So I’m definitely feeling the need for a little mid-winter inspiration.  January is all about urban layers~

For August, I’m feeling whimsical.  Lush details, strongly hue-ed colors and touchably soft textures are what I want right now.  So here’s my August inspiration board:

Colorfree Friday

I know we all predicted that our no-color-allowed work dress code would be gone within a year, but this doesn’t seem to have happened.   Well, until it does, I’m still searching for inspiration in the black, white and grey hues.  Here’s some outfits that fit the bill~

I’m not sure how you manage to fit this much awesome into one pic, but well done!  I love the print on that dress, the funky glasses, and the shoes~ especially the shoes.

All grey can really work, if you add some sparkle and texture~ I’m going to try this sometime soon…

June Inspiration

Holy crap, it’s June already!  When did that happen?!  (I think Mother Nature is confused, too, since the weather can’t decide if it’s summer, spring, or fall~)

I’ve been digging through my wardrobe, pulling out the summery and transition pieces that were packed away for the winter; trying to remember how I wore all of this stuff and get some new ideas for how to wear it now!~

So here’s what’s inspiring me this summer-spring-fall-ish season:

My hair is finally long again: so I have to ~do~ something with it!  My solution?  Braids!  Here is some inspiration for May’s hair:

I’ve also been wanting to try this tutorial for fabric maiden braids; doesn’t it look fun?

The most important thing is?  Not getting my hair caught in the machinery at work~!

Colorfree Friday

To recap: We’re not allowed to wear color where I work, only black, white and grey.  Thus was born…Colorfree Fridays!  A celebration of all things colorless to remind us that limitations can also be inspiring.

So here’s what’s inspiring me this week!

Colorfree Friday: Sassy and I know It

Today’s Colorfree Friday is brought to you by Sunday.  And the letter G!

My black/white/grey wardrobe is getting better, I finally have enough stuff that I don’t have to wash my work clothes every other day, yay~  But I can always use a little more inspiration!  So here’s what I’m looking at right now.

I don’t know who you are Random Internet Lady, but I love you!  You have the perfect style, and have managed to make wrinkles look dang sexy~ (the shirt, I mean)

Black on Black on Black!  Not everyone can pull this look off; the key is having different textures and shade-matching your blacks!  Tricky, very tricky.

Also?  Not everyone’s complexion looks great with black ~near the face~.  It can be too harsh for some (myself included).  A lot of ladies are better off with a grey or other shade close to the face, otherwise you can look a little anemic, or a little aged.

So! F-ing! Cute!

And in the OH MY GOD I’M IN LOVE WITH THIS category, is this Dia de los Muertos cardigan.  I need this because of reasons!
