A Little Helping Hand

Not so long ago, a friend asked me for help with a tricky fashion topic. She had a friend who needed a dress for a September wedding. Weddings are tricky, you want to look good, but not upstage the bride(nothing that says “competative young hottie)! So she asked me to find her friend the perfect little modest dress for the mother of the groom.  Here are my picks.

Option 1:

I started with a Nicole Miller. It has an interesting handkerchief hem, and would look very mother of the groom with an added cardigan or beaded jacket. In addition the print is fun and in a very hot turquoise color, very now!

Nicole Miller: very hot!

Bluefly.com is your friend: this dress checks in at about $220, making it not out of reach for most.

Option 2

A Mark Bouwer with great details and a flowy silhouette which looks great on everyone, not just mature figures.  The beaded detail at the neckline means that you wouldn’t need much jewelry to accessorize.

Mark Bouwer: very elegant!

This option is a little more pricey at about $430.

Option 3

If our mother of the groom wants to show off a little leg, here is a great Diane von Furstenberg wrap dress.  I cannot praise the great DVF enough: the wrap dress is a fashion icon and that elusive, looks great on everyone perfect dress!

Show off those kickin' legs, groom's mama!

This one checks in at about $120, which is a steal for a DVF!

Option 4

Another print from out friends at net-a-porter: a printed silk chiffon maxi dress.  Not too fussy, just the right amount of feminine.

Sweet but not too...

This lovely dress is also on sale for $190.

Option 5

An empire waisted dress with a retro tie-dye print from Overstock.com.  How great would this look with a pair of chunky turquoise earrings!

Sassy! In pink or turquoise

This one is incredibly inexpensive, at about $37.

Option 6

Last but not least, this budget-friendly classic looking AA Studio floral print dress.  This is something you could really wear again and again.

Classic, but still fun!

And this one is a real steal, again from Overstock.com: just $14.

I don’t know what our mother of the groom picked for her wedding, but I know she looked great!
